2 PETER
2 Peter 1:1-2
I, Simon Peter, am writing this letter to you whom God has caused to believe in Christ just like we apostles believe in Christ. I pray that God will bless you greatly.
Godhas given us everything thatwe need to receive eternal life andto live godly lives.
Try your hardest to develop a stable Christian character.
I intend to keep reminding youvery frequently aboutthese matters.
Youcanbe sure thatthese matters are true, becausewe apostles ourselves witnessed thatour Lord Jesus Christ is supremely great, andalsobecausewhatthe prophets say abouthimis completely reliable.
There will be false teachers among you who will behave wickedly and who will entice you to behave just like they do. God will certainly destroy them.
Itis certain thatGod knows how to rescue thosewhoare godly, andthathe knows how to punish thosewhoare unrighteous atthe right time.
Becausethose teachers of false doctrine will behave wickedly andwill entice peopletodothesamethingsthattheydo, God will destroy them.
Becausethose teachers of false doctrine will entice peopleto behave wickedly, God has reserved darkest hell forthem.
I am writing this letter to you in order to help you remember what the holy prophets said and what our Lord and Savior commanded.
Although certain peoplewill ridicule the idea thattheLordJesusChristis going to come back, the reason why hehasnotyet come back to judge peopleisthat God isbeing patient withpeople; butJesuswillcertainly come back and judge people.
Youcertainly ought to behave ina godly manner, becauseGodwilldestroy everything, andbecauseonlythosepeoplewhoare righteous willliveinthe new heavensandonthe new earth.
Doallyou can to conduct yourlivesina godly manner. Guardagainstthosewhowould entice youto doubt whatyounow firmly believe.
I pray thatJesusChristwill always behonored.
