1 CORINTHIANS
1 Corinthians 1:1-3
As your apostle, I greet you Corinthian believers, and I desire that God bless you.
IthankGodforyouandfor all the spiritual abilities thathehas given you.
Stop dividing into groups inyour congregations onthe basis ofwhich Christian leader you favor.
ThemessageaboutChrist dying onthecrossisthemeansof saving uswho believe it.
Somepeople think thatthe message about Christ is foolish, butto us whom God has chosen, it shows God's power.
God chose mostly despised, not important, peopletobelongto Christ; soyoushould boast onlyabouthim.
God showed that my message was true by the powerful things that he did, not because I spoke in a way that would make people think highly of me.
Unbelievers donot consider thatmy message is wise, becauseI speak what God's Spirit reveals to me.
I was unable to teach you difficult concepts, because you were controlled by your self-directed nature, as evidenced by your quarreling about which leader you should be loyal to.
I preached the gospel toyou first, andApollos followed, butweareboth serving God equally.
Each one who teaches believers must examine whatheis teaching thembecauseGodwill reward him only if his teaching is valuable and long-lasting.
Godwill destroy anyonewho destroys the unity ofa congregation.
Stop being proud ofone Christian leader oranother, becauseweareall just working foryour benefit.
Stop evaluating your leaders' value; do not be proud of one and despise another.
Itis disgusting thatyouareso proud ofyour spiritual gifts andthatyou despise us apostles.
Imitate thewayinwhichI serve Christ.
I hope youwill change your thinking, soIdonothaveto punish youwhenIcomethere.
You should expel the man in your congregation who has acted so immorally.
Make sure that no oneinyour congregation is acting immorally or maliciously or wickedly.
Expel wickedpeoplefromyour congregation.
It is disgusting that you prosecute fellow believers and let judges who are not believers decide your cases.
God has freed youfromyour former sinful behavior, so remember thathewill exclude fromhis kingdom thosewho engage in all kinds of sinful behavior.
BecausetheLord wants usto use our bodies in ways that please him, wemust avoid all sexually immoral acts.
Married people should not deprive their spouses of sexual relations, except under special conditions.
Itisallrighttoget married, butitis wrong toget divorced. However, youshouldnot force an unbelieving spouse tokeeplivingwithyou.
In general, eachperson should remain inthe status thathehadbeforehe became a believer.
Itisnot sinful to get married, but married peoplewillhavea lot of problems.
We believers shouldnot devote our time tothe affairs ofthislife.
Itis better to remain unmarried because married peopleare more concerned about pleasing their spouses thanabouthowto please the Lord.
Itis better foramanto decide thathis daughter should remain unmarried thanthatsheshould get married, buteither decision isall right.
Women whose husbands have died are free to get remarried, butonlyto believers. However, theywill probably be happier iftheydonot marry again.
We should not be proud about knowing the truth about idols.
Thereare many idols thatpeople think aregods, butthereisonlyone true God.
Donot eat meat offered to idols ifthatwould encourage other believers to eat that food contrarytotheir conscience.
As your apostle I am free to do anything that God allows me to do.
Barnabas andIhavethe same right to receive financial support thattheotherapostleshave.
God's servants have always hadthe right to receive financial help fromothers, butwehavenot insisted onthat right becausewe want to preach the gospel without charge.
Ihave adopted the code of conduct of whatever group Ihavebeenamong, inordertobring more peopleto Christ.
Our Jewish ancestors all experienced God's power, but almost all of them died in the desert because they sinned against him.
Whathappenedtoour Jewish ancestors wasa warning ofwhatwill happen tous if we give into temptation.
Godwill punish usifwe participate in demon worship by eating food sacrificed to demons whenwe eat the Lord's Supper.
Itisall right to eat food offered to idols, butwe should notdoso if itwould offend thosewho think thatitis wrong.
Women should wear a hair covering while praying or prophesying ina service, but men should notdoso.
Whenyou gather to eat the Lord's Supper, you act selfishly. Icannot praise youforthat.
TheLord gave us instructions aboutthe significance ofthe Lord's Supper.
God punishes thosewhoeatthe Lord's Supper inawaythatdoesnot express the unity ofhispeople.
It is only God's Spirit who enables people to say that Jesus is Lord.
God's Spiritgives believers special abilities ashe desires.
A congregation needs allthe abilities that God's Spirit gives toits members, butyoushouldespeciallydesirethe ones that help othersthe most.
We should use the abilities that God's Spirit has given us in ways that show that we love others.
Speaking messages that come directly from God will help believers much more than speaking messages in unknown languages.
Believers shouldallbe prepared to participate inan orderly wayduringworship services.
I was not worthy to become an apostle, but the Lord Jesus committed to me the message about his death and resurrection.
Christ has truly come back to life, andhewill some day raise all believers.
In heaven wewillhave glorious indestructible bodies.
You should set aside funds each week for the offering to be sent to believers in Jerusalem.
I plan to spend some time withyou. Treat Timothy respectfully whenhe arrives. Apollos plans to visit you later.
Igiveyoumy final instructions, greetings fromothers, andmy final blessings.
